SEB's history
In 1856, André Oscar Wallenberg started Sweden’s first private bank, becoming the country's first venture capitalist. The bank has been characterised by his innovative thinking and commitment to society ever since. SEB has accompanied businesses and families out into the world for more than 150 years. Here is our story.
Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (publ)
- 1856 Stockholms Enskilda Bank was founded
- 1900- Head offices at Kungsträdgårdsgatan
- 1938- Kreditbolaget renamed to Skandinaviska Banken
- 1972- Merger with Skandinaviska Banken
- 1980- A more international bank and profit above 1 billion
- 1990- Bank crises and e-banking revolution
- 2000- A Northern European financial corporation with international operations
- 2010- SEB – The relationship bank in our part of the world
